Locations - Travel

Oh man, we live in such a beautiful world! True, SF is a freaking beautiful area, but that doesn’t mean we have to stick out here.

Here are a few places I LOVE to shoot in or would love to shoot in, whether for an epic engagement session or your dream elopement.

Here’s the thing though, these locations are too good to only be shooting at for an hour or two, so I offer adventure sessions that allow us to get outside of our bubble, make new memories and really explore a place. If you want more info, let me know!

Travel Fees! (The scary & unknown) I do charge travel fees to anywhere outside of 100 miles from SF for adventure sessions and elopements (75 miles for regular sessions), I try to keep it pretty simple. I ask for $1/mile past the first 100 one way (so if we’re going 150 miles, I’d ask for a $50 travel fee) OR if it’s easier to fly than a roundtrip flight. I also ask for at least one nights stay at a hotel/airbnb/campsite for trips longer than 2 hours! This is for my own safety so I’m not spending 5 hours in a day driving on top of a long session. Hope this simplifies the fear of travel fees, and I’d love to dive more into detail if you have a specific location in mind.

California Coast

Shark Fin Cove (Santa Cruz)

Shark Fin Cove is a beach right outside Santa Cruz that features the famous 'Shark Fin'. It's a beautiful beach that has rock formations at the base and trails near grassy areas along the top of the cliffs.

Garden of Eden (Santa Cruz)

If you want to get in the water for some pictures, this is a beautiful swimming hole in Santa Cruz. It's about a 0.5 mile hike through the redwoods to the area. It can get busy in the afternoons and on weekends, so if you're tough - it's a good ideas to go early in the morning. Otherwise, weekdays are ideal!

Point Reyes

Point Reyes is a beautiful location with lots of iconic spots. This is one of the best spots for a half day session. It's about a 2.5 hour drive from East Bay, but has lots of great locations including:

-Cypress Tree Tunnel

-Point Reyes Lighthouse

-National Seashore

-Chimney Rock Cliff Overlook

-Wildflowers in May (generally, might vary!)

-Etc.

Monterey/Carmel/Point Lobos

Just Before Big Sur are a lot of beautiful beaches, towns, and views! Point Lobos in Carmel is one of my favorite parks with rocks, beaches, and lots of sea life. Cannery Row in Monterey is a fun area to explore and there’s a 17 mile drive along the coast that’s definitely worth checking out!

Big Sur

Along Highway 1 & South of Monterey, Big Sur is STUNNING. Redwoods, beaches, coastal cliffs, you name it. Here are some options for places to shoot:

-Bixby Canyon Bridge

-Redwood Forests

-Julia Pfeiffer State Beach

-Honestly, I just like to drive down and pull off wherever we think is the prettiest with a few destinations in mind~

Other Areas in Northern California

Yosemite

Yosemite is one of the most beautiful locations in California, with grand waterfalls, huge rock formations, and a beautiful valley. This location does take about 3-4 hours of driving from the Bay Area and can get busy, but is definitely one of the most picturesque backgrounds.

Some of my favorite locations include:

-Yosemite Falls/Bridal Veil Falls (If you’re adventurous we can climb up some rocks closer to the falls!

-Valley Floor (Walkways, views of the waterfalls and half-dome)

-Mirror Lake (A small hike, but leads to some lakes at the base of the valley

-Taft Point or Glacier Point (Only open around May - early October, but one of the best spots. A small hike, but overlooks the whole valley)

Lake Tahoe

This is an amazing half day session location. About 3-4 hours north of SF, Lake Tahoe has beautiful mountain ranges, docks, overlooks, lakes, and sometimes snow! I've seen some of the best sunsets of my life at Tahoe as well. Clearly, conditions vary between seasons, but it’s one of the best places to get snow in NorCal without driving too crazy far!

Some of my favorite locations include:

-Perimeter of the Lake at the docks & Sand Harbor

-Donner Lake in Truckee (surrounded by forests)

-Squaw Valley

-Eagle Point Overlook (Small hike up that overlooks the lake)

-South Lake Tahoe (Emerald Bay, Angora Forest)

-Lots of other beautiful spots!

Pinnacles National Park

I’ve only been here once, but it was so pretty, lots of rock formations, some caves, and lots of greenery. Definitely recommend checking this spot out!

There’s so many more amazing ones!! Here’s a few that I’d love to shoot at or keep your eye out for my travel schedule to see if I’ll be going anywhere you want to go and I’m always happy to find time for a session while I’m traveling! :)
