I like big epic landscape shots and small intimate detail photos. I like bright and airy candid/happy/laughing pictures and moody posed ones too. The photos I take depend on the light, the mood, and the personality of my subjects. There are staples in the things that excite me - nature, outfits that move with my subject, and happiness - but I also love jumping outside the box. While I feel pretty confident with what I don’t like, there’s still a whole world of things I don’t even know I enjoy photographing because I’ve never had the chance. My best work is when I get to put together ideas with others since the biggest variable in what I shoot is the people I shoot with and the talents and vision they help bring to the shoot. I’m inspired by those around me and the world we live in, and feel that my style is always evolving and no shoot is ever the same. Guess what these shoots all have in common!? I didn’t get paid for any of them. They were are collaborations. 😱 Some of these lovely people had amazing style and brought gorgeous looks to the shoots, others helped me explore and get comfortable shooting in new locations, and some even just brought an idea to me and we made it come to life together. But none of these shoots were paid. And you know what, that is 100% okay. In fact, I think collaborations are a must whether you’re starting out or 5 years in. But today, I’m specifically focusing on how collaborations can be useful for photographers who are just starting to grow their businesses. Collabs can be great marketing tools if you are intentional with who you collaborate with and how you use the photos after the shoot date. It breaks my heart to see California aflame once again.
