So you set the date, booked the venue, and got those engagement photos done - now it’s time to order the stationary.

Planning a wedding can be a lot of work.  You’ve probably never had to worry about stationary, floral design, timelines, and event coordinating before in your life and all of a sudden you are supposed to know it all. Luckily, there are a lot of great companies out there trying to make things as simple and painless as possible.

This week, I’m partnering with Basic Invite to bring you information on their romantic wedding save the dates and answer a few questions on how to decide what stationary company is right for you.

1. When should I get engagement photos & order the save the dates?

It’s important to get those save-the-dates out a few months before the wedding to allow people to plan. Your guests might have to request work off, book travel, or even just mark the date on their calendar so they don’t commit themselves somewhere else. Most people get their engagement photos done anywhere between 6-8 months before the wedding date and send out their save-the-dates about 4-5 months before the wedding. If you are planning to have a destination wedding or a wedding that will involve a lot of travel, send out a separate reminder even earlier to ensure that your guests will have time to get their travel sorted out.

2. What should I include on the save the date?

Besides the basic information (who, when, and where), try including your wedding website link on the back. This can keep the save the dates looking beautiful while giving guests a resource to reference.

3. What is a wedding website?

Wedding websites are customizable web pages that allow you to include more detailed information for your guests. You can include all the general info, give information on lodging, recommendations for what guests should do while they’re in town, show off some of your favorite engagement photos, and tell your love story to friends and family who might want to know more about you two! Basic invite offers free & customizable wedding websites that are mobile friendly and super easy to use. You can even match the website theme to the them of your invitation suite.
